The chronology of events that took place from this idea hitting me to having its website deployed to production was pretty fast. If I would have spent at-least 5 minutes thinking deeper on this idea - I would have certainly called it silly and dumped it.

Here’s the context,

Chronology of Events

  1. A girl posts a 3 second video on X, which goes super viral
  2. There are news articles calling her Bandana Girl
  3. It reaches 25 million plus impressions on X
  4. I get a random thought if bandanagirl.com has been purchased
  5. I quickly check - yes it was purchased. Website suggests me bandanagirl.in is available only for ~500 INR
  6. I purchase it, while buying I think what to do with it. Shall I just keep it or build something on it
  7. Then I browse X and see its going super viral hitting close to 30 million impressions now
  8. I think this girl ought to end up being a big personal brand with that virality
  9. What if I just pitch her to collaborate and build something together. I got a perfect brand, if I convince her to join we might be able to sell almost anything
  10. I think the goal is to be rich - this ain’t a startup, this is a hack. Learning the behaviour around us and hacking reality to earn something out of it.
  11. I open cursor write a quick PRD - and within half an hour of back and forth — The design, the pitch, the call to action all figured out
  12. Deployed the website through Netlify and configured DNS onto Cloudflare. Pointed CNAME back to Cloudflare and now the website was running on bandanagirl.in

The website

I think I got a pretty decent one made quick,

  1. Starting and ending handwriting prompts were a pretty good touch
  2. The body of messaging is not as good maybe because we do not know her viewpoint — ā€˜earning revenues/being rich’ → maybe she does not care, or else she could have monetised her X. ā€˜building something together’ → maybe she is already building something with another partner
  3. Putting some ideas as cards was a good touch to help communicate what I meant
  4. And the CTA was my X profile - where one can check for authenticity and DM
  5. I did not use any framework for the website - simple HTML, CSS and a Server.JS file

Now comes the marketing part,

  1. Went back to X drafted a Post - nothing happened. Just a couple likes, was expecting that.
  2. Google searched Bandana Girl and emailed the journalist who recently wrote an article on her. No response. Good marketing idea for future projects.
  3. Started DMing some profiles who were engaging with the girl’s post - got 3 replies and 1 follow.
  4. DMed the girl the website link again this time on Instagram - no response

What should I do with the domain now,

I am thinking I’ll build something, like a market place for Bandanas? Or maybe some other digital product?

If you have ideas then drop a reply.
